Flood Mud
Many people back in North America have heard about the flooding in Arequipa and have asked if we have been affected. Since we live 3 hours away from the city, we have been spared from the flooding and our river's level hasn't gone up much. We have barely had sprinkles and have been enduring the warmest summer we've ever experienced in Peru!
Today, we went to Arequipa for our monthly trip to attend our missionary team meeting and to buy things we can't get in Punta de Bombón (cream, mattresses, church materials for SS, etc.). Many major streets were closed because of the rivers of mud that came through town on Sunday, so it took us about an hour to drive the last 2 km or so!
One of the major avenues in Arequipa that they piled up the mud in the middle of like so much drifted snow!
